On the surface the 2nd quarter 2007 home price figures for Salt Lake County seem very good. Only 2 zip codes went down in price compared to the same time last year and most areas saw double digit increases. The reality is that the market is starting to slow. The bottom end of the market is still strong but mid priced properties are starting to sit on the market. You are also seeing sellers having to drop their asking price in order to stimulate interest. The real extent of this slowdown will not be apparent until Q3 figures are released. One area that did see strong growth is Indian Hills 84108. Here prices went up over 40% and the zip code is now the most expensive in Salt Lake County. |
